Flint Knapping and Primitive Glues

We are delighted to offer this wonderful full day workshop with guest instructor Billy Souter of Primitive Living. Billy is quickly gaining an excellent reputation within the bushcraft world as a knowledgeable and talented craftsman and instructor – we’re very fortunate to have booked him in!

Flint Knapping – Students will gain understanding and experience knapping flint to create a variety of tools including arrow heads, microlith blades and drill tips. These tools will be used by students throughout the course for fire lighting and general craft purposes. Considerations for sourcing quality material, tools needed, and the general process of knapping will be discussed and demonstrated before students begin working on their own tools.

Primitive Glues – Students will learn how to make various thermoplastic glues using different materials depending on the desired application. These glues are used for a range of purposes including fixing projectile points to sealing bark containers. Using pine resin, along with other materials students will make their own glue which they will use to create simple flint tools.

This course is limited to small numbers and is sure to sell out, so please book early.
